Hi all,
We are wrapping up our last unit in Intermediate Algebra this week. Students will be taking their last test (on Transformations) on the block day this week. The remainder of the block day will be spent reviewing and preparing for their semester 2 final. A review packet has been given out for this and is due Tuesday, June 7. Online solution videos will be posted Sunday night June 5. Please email me if you need another copy of this packet.
Students will also have next Monday (June 6) to review for the semester final. We will take the semester final in class on Tuesday, June 7 and Wednesday, June 8. Celebration day is on Thursday, June 9 and then we will be doing a reflection and end of the year activities on Friday, June 10.
Here is the homework for the week:
Tuesday (due Wednesday 6/1): Quadratic Functions Tranformations Video Notes & Worksheet
Wednesday (due block day 6/2 or 6/3): Transformations Review
As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Please be checking schoolview regularly to see how your student is doing and if they have any missing work/retakes to get done. I am after school Tuesday and Thursday this week.
thank you!

Intermediate Algebra Week of May 23
Hi everyone! Please see below for updates for Intermediate Algebra for this week.
Today in class we are taking our Rational Functions Unit Test. Most students did not finish in class today so we will be taking time tomorrow to finish them up. Our last mini unit for the year is on Transformations of Functions (with a focus on absolute value functions, square root functions, and quadratic functions). Students will have a self paced work day in class on the block day- this will involve taking notes and then some independent and partner work time.
The test for Transformations will either be on Wednesday, June 1 or the block day (Thursday/Friday June 2/3) depending on time.
Monday homework (due Tuesday): Watch video "Transformation of Absolute Value Functions" and take notes (note sheet handed out in class)
Tuesday homework (due block day Wednesday/Thursday): Transformations of Absolute Value Functions Worksheet
Block day homework (due Tuesday, May 31): Transformations of Square Root Functions Worksheet
Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

IA Math Update Thursday, May 12
Hello! We are wrapping up MAP math testing this week in Intermediate Algebra. Students receive their score automatically but I will also be sending this information home with students early next week.
IA Homework (assigned block day Thursday/Friday, due Monday May 16)
Watch video on "Simplifying Rational Expressions" on my webpage. Make sure to take notes on your own sheet of paper and bring them with you on Monday.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Thank you!

Update - Beginning of May
Hi everyone! Updates are below for both classes.
Investigations
We finished our activities that focused on linear equations and systems of equations. We are now doing a few scatter plot activities and will be moving on to geometry next!
Intermediate Algebra
Students took their Exponential Functions Unit Test on Tuesday. Grades were entered and updated Tuesday night as well. Overall it went really well. Our next unit is rational functions. We will be taking a break in the middle of this unit to begin MAP testing next Tuesday, May 10.
Homework for this week:
Wednesday (due block day 5/5 or 5/6)
Holt 12.1 page 875 #12-17, 19-21, 37, 38
Block day (due Monday 5/9)
Holt 12.2 page 883 #15-31, 41-43
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. The end of the year tends to go quickly with testing and everything else students have going on. May the 4th be with you!
Thanks!

IA Update
Hi all,
A reminder that students will be taking their Exponential Functions unit test on Tuesday, May 3. Students will get a review packet for this test in class on the block day. I've also attached a link below if your student needs another copy.
I will be out of school Thursday, April 28 and Friday, April 29. Students will watch a video on a chromebook ("Intro to Square Root Functions") and take notes on their own paper. From there they will have independent practice time and will end class with an exit slip.
Exponential Functions Review Packet (due Tuesday, May 3)
I've encouraged students to email me if they have any questions while I am gone or over the weekend. Please feel free to contact me as well with any questions or concerns.
Thank you!

Intermediate Algebra Updates Thursday, April 14
Hello all! Please see below for updates for Intermediate Algebra this week.
We finished up our Solving Quadratics Unit this week. Students started their test on Tuesday and finished in class on Wednesday (I was out sick on Wednesday). I will get these in the grade book by the end of the night on Thursday. We are beginning our unit on Exponential Functions this week. Next week we will be pausing to take our MCAs.
Some notes for the MCA:
-Students will be taking the MCA in class Tuesday, April 19 thru Friday, April 22.
-Students do not need to bring any math binders, folders, or textbooks to class during this time.
-Students need to either leave their cell phone in their locker OR turn it in to "cell phone day care" when they get to class (same goes for any other technology like ipods or kindles). They can bring a book to read if they finish early that day or can quietly draw.
-Please do your best to ensure your child gets a good nights sleep and has a good breakfast. This is your child's time to show what they have learned and it is important that they do their very best!
Homework this week:
Wednesday (due block day 4/14 or 4/15)
Holt 11.1 page 793 #17-31
Block day (due Monday 4/18)
Holt 11.2 page 800 #18-27, 35, 37
Thank you! Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
